A single moment is about to change Sloane Monroe's life forever.

On an early winter morning, college student Shelby McCoy walks the quiet, snowy path back home. A tree branch snaps in the distance. Then another. A man is there with her, following close behind, whispering her name. She looks back, sees him gaining on her, and runs. Who is this man, and why is he carrying a gun?

If you love a great mystery with a surprising twist, you'll enjoy Gone Daddy Gone.

A New York Times bestselling series.

"Another heart-pounding story."

"I have read every thing this author has written and love every word. As a suspense writer there is no equal."

"Superb writing, excellent storyline, believable characters!"

Gone Daddy Gone Sloane Monroe Book 7 edition by Cheryl Bradshaw Literature Fiction eBooks

"Gone Daddy Gone" opens with a heartbreaking tragedy in Sloane's life and for four chapters I cried like a baby. I kept asking why Bradshaw put long time fans through it ( and I'm still a little mad at you for that opening!)!

Bottom line is it was to show us again what a skilled master she is of the written word, and that when Cheryl is writing about Sloane's personal life, no author knows her creation any better. The same personal thread ran through Murder in Mind, and both books lay this character bare and Sloane is ANYTHING but a cardboard character. Wouldn't you know it, going through rough weekend of my own, it is in chapter 30, a chance meeting between our heroine and a local neighbor that I found a little more strength to go on. Elegantly written, yet simple in its execution, the scene filled me with hope.

As I said, I dare you to lay it down. It took me about 2 and a half days, maybe three, to finish it. I could not get the pages turned fast enough.

She's done it again. So when is book 8 coming out?!?

Gone Daddy Gone Sloane Monroe Book 7 edition by Cheryl Bradshaw Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

It's difficult to mention any of this story and not give anything away. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS SERIES BE READ IN ORDER !! Cheryl Bradshaw has created a storyline which continues to grow from one book to the next. So does the reader's relationship with heroine Sloane Monroe and her fellow characters. The Sloane Monroe series is an action packed suspense, which follows a PI who has no boundaries with her loyalty and perserverance. Gone Daddy Gone, book 7, is a heart pounding thriller of unpredictability. And along the way heartbreak and some SHOCK and AHH woven in...
SOME SPOILERS

This is my first time reading Cheryl Bradshaw and it will be my last. There is absolutely no depth to the plot-line of this book. Th characters are all one dimensional, even Sloane, the protagonist who is supposedly a tough PI who always gets the bad guy. There was no need to kill off Cade's daughter but seemed designed to lead us to think it had nothing to do with Sloane, but instead revolved around the secrets the daughter had kept from her father. Since the book is not about Cade and his daughter, the title is a total misnomer--and it doesn't fit with the final identification of the killer either, so what's up with that? People associated, even tangentially, with Sloane start getting shot, and she finally decides it must have something to do with her. I didn't see any good PI work done by Sloane, not even mediocre sleuthing. Bradshaw keeps all of the other people who are shot alive, so it doesn't make sense to kill the daughter for a book title for a novel that has nothing to do with Gone Daddy Gone

Sloane doesn't seem to get along with anyone she worked with in the past in Utah, yet they are the final reason Sloane is saved. Never having read any previous Sloane books, I was not aware of any of her relationships to Maddie, her grandmother, etc. and yet they were thrown into the plot at various times as though we knew their roles and associations. It was definitely not a stand alone novel and it would have been easy to make it so. Instead, it was incredibly rushed and the writing was something that would appeal to YA, not dedicated thriller readers. I read the entire book in less than 3 hours which to me means there was nothing concrete or thought provoking going on.

The ending was exceptionally rushed and the last chapter was slammed together to show us who survived Logan's crime spree. There was no logic at all that I could see. You would certainly have shared your past with someone you planned to marry and Cade appears to recuperate from a serious head would in no time and have no residual issues with the fact that his daughter was slaughtered because of his girlfriend. In fact, he seems to have already gotten over her death in no time. This book seemed to brush the tops of all the issues and could have had potential but failed miserably. This will be my last Bradshaw novel. I can't remember the last time I read something this shallow. And Sloane is supposed to be a tough strong woman--none of that came across in this installment. even if I had read the first 6 books in the series, it would not have made this any better reading. Don't waste your time or money, there are so many good thrillers out there.
I was excited to read the new Sloane book and this did not disappoint , I loved Shelby and could not believe she was the target . I kept expecting it to not be true then the surprises just continued. We discover so much more about Sloane and her past and characters from previous books reappears . I could not put this book down and cannot wait to continue on this journey to see how Sloane and Cade will go on from here.
I just finished and should probably let this all soak in before writing my review, but I just can't wait. I totally didn't expect the beginning...at all. Then the events that unfolded after were almost as unexpected. It was so well written that I wasn't able to guess the killer by midway like I usually do. I was stumped until he was finally revealed. My emotions were all over the place from shock, to horror, to happiness, to sadness, back to shock, and...you get the point. But thankfully it ended on a happy note.

In short, this is one of the best books and one of the best series I have read and I am anxiously awaiting what is next for Sloane.
This book feels scattered, as if Bradshaw just threw a bunch of ideas together. It’s been almost 3 years since I read the previous book in this series, so it may be that I’m not recalling some things – like Sloane’s relationship with Cade. I see in the lists of books in this series at the end of this book that there was a novella before this book. Perhaps that’s where the odd bits here that don’t make sense were set up.

Random chapters in the antagonist’s POV threw the flow of the story off rhythm. And Bradshaw keeps any idea of his identity or motive hidden (not even a hint) until we’re through 85% of the book, and then she dumps all of it in our laps in a burst, and it’s an old standard of a plot device. Bradshaw also throws a major twist in Sloane’s past in the mix late in the book that was never hinted at earlier in this book or any of the earlier ones.

And again, displays its unique ability to tell me how many pages are in a book but not page-number the book itself. Good job .

I won’t hunt down more books in this series but will read them if they cross my path.
