Lady Anne needs to say goodbye to her fiance, who passed away years before, and Captain Crimson Jack is her best choice for a sail.. since he won't allow any other option. From the moment the despondent, devil-may-care Captain sets his eyes on the fiery and headstrong Anne, he won't take no for an answer. He manipulates the world and tips it upside down to ensure she will take passage on his ship... and sparks fly from there. It is SO HARD to find a delicious and wonderful (and well-written) Victorian romance these days. And "Lord of Temptation" truly filled my craving. As the second in the Lost Lords of Pembrook Series it truly served a way sweeter and a sexier dish than the first did. I actually read it slowly in order to savor every moment of it. And I have a feeling it will be a keeper and a re-read in the years to come. Honestly, I was devastated when I realized the third book in the trilogy hasn't been written yet. (I'm seriously craving Rafe's romance, the youngest of the three lords. He strikes me as VERY mysterious and sexy.)
This novel is not perfect. There were things I didn't like about it and certain tropes lasted a beat too long for my romantic expectations... BUT I'm giving it a 5 star review because it's rare I'm so enamored with a romance from this setting. I truly championed the hero and heroine and was on the edge of my seat for most of the tale.

Lord of Temptation Lost Lords of Pembrook Lorraine Heath 9780062100023 Books Reviews
I have enjoyed these stories about the Lost Lords. I loved the hero even though he struggled to choose the h. I understood that he was tortured and had suffered but I really wish he'd made his choice for her sooner.
****Spoiler****
I really didn't enjoy the fact that he went to the other guy interested in the h and convinced him to marry her. He left it until the very last minute to go after the h and I really hate that. It's like love is not enough. I guess I'm too much of a romantic.
Anyway it was still a great read and I love the author's writing style.
This is the second book in 'The Lords of Pembrook" series. It was a very good read. Both Tristan and Anne were very likable characters & the attraction between them was interesting also. There were times in the book where you could almost feel the scorching passion in the air, but that was mostly while their clothes were still on! The looks, the tension, the teasing! What I found slightly disappointing was how easily Tristan reconciles with the ghosts of his past, and the constant (or so it seemed)back and forth, about how he could never leave the seas behind! Luckily of course, there is that happy ending we all expect, but with a slight twist. If you've read the first book I'm sure you'll want to read the second. Hopefully, there will be a third, and Rafe too will find his happy ending!
I have read hundreds of historical romance books. Some I read for a while and just put down and not finish because there is way to much, "all about them". To much physical awareness. To much sex. I like a plot and not so much anger between the two main people. A really good plot that is easily understood and likeable characters makes a book worth reading. Personalities that make me care about all of them. The male characters weren’t overwhelming and so macho. She gave them strength and humbled them. That was my most admired trait in this book. Being stubborn is OK but to much is to much. She really understood how to handle the stubborn in this man and keep it from ruining the book. That is because she gave him a caring nature. That is what I found in this book. I felt really satisfied with this book and didn't want to put it down. I have decided that Lorraine Heath is a very good author and I hope to read more of her books.

The second in the Lost Lords of Pembrooke series is Tristan's story. I loved this one just as I did the first. With Lorraine Heath, I never think I am going to enjoy the next book in her series as much as the last and she always proves me wrong. All of her books have the power to draw me in with their wonderful, multi layered characters and interesting story lines. Her themes of tortured heroes who find peace through love are one of my favorite. The fact that she does it so brilliantly leaves me breathless. I always get drawn in and thoroughly entertained. I am a hug fan of hers and am eager to read the next this series as well as others she has written.
I read this story after reading the story about Tristan's brother Sebastian. Initially I was confused because it seemed that Jack knew Anne from his prior time in society ... but later this didn't seem to be the case.
I quite enjoyed the story, the idea of the mourning sweetheart, her desire to visit her fiancé's grave, the fact that Captain Jack gave passage for the price of a kiss. It was just that once they got back from the visit the story stalled, or became becalmed. I actually thought I was in for a quick resolution and the end of the book, but when I checked the percentage done (I'm reading on my kindle) because I wanted to finish before the end of the night I was shocked to find I was only around 50%.
The rest of the novel was tooing and froing and lots of sex, as the two characters struggle to decide they can be together, but I felt there needed to be another complication, perhaps Jack being accused of piracy.
I enjoyed it, just not as much as the other books.
I didn't hate reading this book--but nothing stands out. Hero Crimson Jack aka Lord Tristan Easton sailed the seas but was he a pirate? Trader? Smuggler? Lady Anne Hayworth takes a trip on his ship to see her fiancés grave so she can say goodbye. Although she only finds unmarked graves, she cries a lot, then goes back on the ship to go home. They are both madly attracted but Jacks married to the sea. Anne must find a husband. So the whole story involves fighting their attraction and promising one more night together before their romance ends. No plot to speak of.
